The next dance at th Vacht club

Admiral Foote port, G. A. R. of New
Haven, will hold a basket picnic at the
‘Soldiers’ Home in Noroton next Thurs-
day, leaving that city on the 7:35 a. in.

A blackfish was caught off Hatchett’s
Reef, South Lyme, a few days ago,
which, accordingr to the story of a reli-
able eye witness, weighed fourteen and
three-quarter pounds.
The will of the late Hon. Dudley P. Ely
was read to the heirs last evening and
will shortly be offered for probate. It
is understood that his estate has been
divided equally among his three daugh-
ters. - .
The South Norwalks and Victor's of
Bridgeport played an interesting game
of ball on the Baxter grounds yesterday
afternoon. The‘South Norwalks won,
defeating the Victors by a score of
3 to 0.
Leonard D. Wildman, of Danbury,
draughtsman at the Norwalk Iron
Works, designed the title page of the
Woman’s Edition of the Danbury News
printed yesterday. It is a creditable
piece of work.
' Landlord O’Sullivan of Gregory’s
Point is making an effort to have the.
last Tramway car leave the Point at
night at 11 o’clock instead of 10:20.
This would greatly please the public if
it can be accomplished.
Henry Clark became and was found
intoxicated yesterday, and this morn?
ing Judge Frost charged him a 3135 note
for his celebration. Henry paid up
and dep arted fully satisfied that the
new town court means business".
The intelligent compositor made us
say yesterday that Mr. George A. Jen-
nings had gone to St. Lewis instead of
St. Louis. When the error was mark-
ed in the proof it failed of correction
and the composilon had his way about
it.
The sloop yacht “Fad” of Beaufort,
N. C., is at Gregory’s Point. Those on
board are the guests of Captain Charles
Riley of the yacht Marguerite. Mr.
Riley first met the party during his
trip on the, Marguerite in the South
last winter.
The tower operators on the Consoli-
dated rond have received blanks which
they must fill out giving their full ex-
perience. No operator will hereafter
be employed by the company who is
not over twenty-one years of age, and
an experienced man. -
In response to a telegram Chief Voll-
mer went to Brewsters yesterday and
recovered S. E. Osborn’s stolen horse,
which is being driven home to-day.
He recognized the two Athieves who
stole the turnout -as young George
Cockefur and Hugo Winegarden.
They are held at Brewster's for 10 days
to allow a requisition to be obtained.
This merning at about 7 :45 o’clock a n
emery wheel burst in the Lockwood
Manufacturing Co.’s polishing room,
severely injuring “Gus” Powell of Nor-
walk, who received a severe scalp
wound, an ugly gash in the forehead
and the thumb nearly severed from his
right hand. William Hayes, another
polisher, received a‘cut in the right
knee which required several stitches to
close.
The action of assistant superinten-
dent Dunbar in consuming forty min-
utes in running the special .Tramway
car to this city last night, is severely
condemned by the passengers from the
the Yacht club dance. The Norwalk
passengers became disgusted with the
"‘boys’ play” exhibited by Dunbar and
left the cars in this city and waited un-
til 1:10 and took the Street Railway
home. , ’ .
The handsome club house of the Nor-
walk Yacht club was packed last even-
ing with members and friends of this
popular organization, and standing
room only was in order. Prof. Widen-
hammer presided at the piano and the
merry party danced the hours away
until midnight, when two special Tram-
way cars conveyed them to this city.
This will be the Last public dance given
this season as all others will be for club
members only. ‘
At the meeting of the Council last
evening Mayor Leo presided with all
the members present. The minutes of
the last meeting were read and-up.
