Mr. Akers—Douglas replied that the Conservatives were most anxious to dis- ' solve at the earliest possible moment. He then moved that writs be issued for the ro—olection of the members of the house of commons who had accepted oflice in the new ministry. The mention of Mr. Chamberlain’s name was greeted with cries of “Judas!” from the Irish'benchcs. ' The house then adjourned until Mon- day. Mr. Balfour’s Address. Mr. A. J. Balfour has issued an address to his constituents in East Manchester, asking for re-election upon the occasion of his accepting office in the new cabinet. Mr. Balfour writes: ”The late government have declared their inability to further conduct the business of the country. Prac- tice and public convenience required them to dissolve parliament, but this duty they have cast upon Lord Salisbury, who has accepted office in order to appeal to the electors at the earliest moment. ” Mr. Balfour proceeds to say: “This is not the occasion to explain in detail the policy which, if a Unionist majority is re- turned to the next parliament, the Union- ist government will pursue. Such a policy could not be attempted with credit and honor in the present position of the parties in the house of commons. Ingenious ‘Vestern Thieves Arrested. SPOKANE, W .sh., June 27.—The au- thorities have arrested two of the most daring thieves operating in the west. Their plan was to spring the door of a freight car at a station and board the train, and when it was in motion throw off what they wanted. When the train slowod up, they would drop off and go back and pick up their plunder. Their names are not known. Beside Their Dead Mother.
