Mugaro \Vanted In Lenox.
LENOX, Mass, April 24.—Rafaollo Mu‘
garo, the Italian arrested in N cw York yes-
terday. is wanted here on the charge of be-
ing implicated in the murder of another
Italian on the Stokes’ place, Feb. 4, 1894.
The murder occurred during a drunken
row among the Italians who were working
on the Stokes and Cook places. The man
was bold, but jumped his bail. The Lenox
police have asked Superintendent Byrnes
to hold the man for the present.
Struck ‘Vater Instead of 011.
CINCINNATI. April 24.—In drilling a
well in Hamilton county, Ind, for oil at
adepth of 900 feet. the drill apparently
dropped through a crust of the rock, and
a rush of water followed that submerged
the derrick and drove 011 the workmen.
The drill was finally removed. The water
escapes through a 6 inch pipe and is
thrown 50 feet above the top of the der-
rick, which itself is 80 feet high.
Charged With a. Peculiar Swindle.
BROOKLYN. April 24.-—John Ross was
held today charged with swindling H. J.
Scubovitcn out of $10. For weeks past,
it is alleged, Ross has sold to Poles and
Italians barrels full of what he represented
was sugar, but; which were found to con-
tain cinders and ashes, with a. thin layer
of sugar on top. Already half a dozen
complaints have been lodged against Ross.

A Canadian Town Flooded.
MONTREAL, April 24.-—The town of St.
Jerome, about 40 miles from this city, is
completely flooded, the worst damage be-
ing done in the vicinity of the large paper
mills. The flood was caused by the over-
flow of the river, owing to an immense ice
gorge. There is fully five feet of water in
the main street. Communication is possi-
ble only by boats.
Presbyterian Missionary Societies.
ONEIDA, N. ’55., April 24.—-The mlssion~
ary societies of the Presbyterian churches
of the state of New York will hold their
annual conference in the Presbyterian
church in this city on Tuesday and Wednes-
day, J 11110 11 and 12. It; will probably be
one of the largest conventions ever held
here.

small arms board adjourned today to May
14, having tested all arms submitted. The
