LONDON, Aug. 23.—John Morley, chief secretary for Ireland, is reported to have succeeded in calming the storm aroused by the Irish members as a result of the vote by the house of lords of the evicted tenants bill. The angry threats made against the government by the Irish mem- bers ’during the all night session of the house of commons on Monday had been heralded as the beginning of a revolt upon their part. Mr. Morley had a long confer- ence with Thomas Sexton,.the results of which were shown in the difl'erent tone in the house of commons. The Irish mem- bers had suspected the government of col- lusion with the Conservatives to postpone the house of lords vote, but Mr. Morley denied with emphasis that there was any such agreement, and the Conservative leader A. J.
