front of the Woodward and Haviland

The remains of John Onda who died
suddenly Thursday of sun- stroke were

The old Continental ran down from
New Haven last evening to Roton load-
ed with a crowd of moonlight ex-
cursionists.

Mail carrier Bennett of the Borough,
now combines business with pleasure
and brings the last mail at night down
on a trolley car.

Chief Vollmer this morning attached

a horse and wagon belonging to Hal- _

lock Bros, the ex-box manufacturers,
to satisfy a claim for wages due Morris
Shapino.

Annie, the 8 month’s old daughter of
J asepline Hedlund, died at the resi-
dence of Mr. Johnson on Charles street,
East Norwalk, yesterday, after an ill-
ness of only nine hours.

The trolley cars are soon to be equip-
ped with the round wheel brake, the
same as are used on a steam car. It is
claimed that they are easier to handle
than the brake now in use.

Putnam Hose company’s base ball
nine is playing the Crystals at the Bax-
ter grounds this afternoon. In order
to accommodate the crowd the trolley

- cars will run as far as Meadow street.

Some one exchanged hats with Mayor
Theile again this morning This is the
seventy fourth time that the Mayor
has lost his tile and he says that the
next hat he buys will have a chain and
padlock attached to it.

A canopy- -top carriage belonging to
liveryman Geo. S. Gregmy of East
N orwalL was runaway with and upset,
near Wilson Point, yesterday. It is
now in the carriage hospital having the
top repaired. The occupants were un-
injured.

Attorney Light succeeded yesterday
in having so much of the attachment
as 1elated to real estate, dissolved, in
the case of Evelina Sturges of Ridge-
field against Angerretta Sturges of
Wilton, who is. charged with slander.
Judge Hall heard the case in the Sn-
perior Court.

A force of nearly 400 men was at work
yesterday raising the east- bound track
near Stratford depot a distance of four
feet. Several gravel t1 aims were at
work drawing the material to make the
embankment. All through trains ran
through the town slowly on the west-
bound track. The Stratford depot has
been moved back and raised to conform
with the improvements.

James T. Keating, an employee of
the Danbury branch of the Consolida-
ted road, and Miss Mary McMahon,

w11 be married at St. Boses’ Roman
Catholic church, in Newtown, on Tues-
day. August lst. Jimmy is well liked
and very popular among the employees
of the road in this city and all join
with the GAZETTE 1n wishing the young
couple long life and prosperity.

Abraham Rodda, a peddler owns a
vicious horse which he has been in the
habit of letting roam at large on the
public streets near his residence on
Monday evening last
young Alfred Beebe was returnin
his home when the horse ran at iii:
and suddenly wheeled around and plant-
ed a kick directly under his eye. His
eye was badly cut and he will probably
be disfigured for life.
settles the case a civil suit for damages
