this city attended the reception of the
graduates of the Over River school in
the Opera House last evenin".
The N orwalks and Yale consolidated
base ball teams will cross bats on the
Baxter grounds next Monday after-
noon. The game promises to be very
exciting.~ '
Jacob Ericcson, the good natured
and popular engineer, has given up_ his
position for the summer,,and gone into
the oyster business, as is his custom
every summer.
The University of Vermont and the
Yale Law school base ball clubs met at
Burlington, Vt., Friday and Vermont
won by-a score of 12 to 0. Lauder
nine base hits.
About twenty-five young ladies and
gentlemen surprised Charles Platt at
his home, corner of Osborn avenue and
Henry street, East N orwalk, last even-
ing. Dancing and games, songs and
a supper were indulged in.
A fair sized audience witnessed the
performance of Frank Mayo’s Davy
Crockett at Music Hall last evening.
The piece is first-class, and the com-
pany a strong one. Everyone who at-
tended, was well pleased with the even-
ing’s entertainment.
“Bert” Wilson, employed on the
eyelet punching machine at .R. 8: G’s.
factory,met with a painful accident yes-
terday afternoon. He was at work on
the machine, and let his hand get too
near. receiving what he at first sup-
posed to be a bad bruise. Further ex-
amination showed that he had placed
two eyelets in his finger. Mr. Wilson
was not slow in removing the some,

PARIS, May 20.—Charles de Lesseps, son
of Count Ferdinand de Lesseps, and one
of the convicted managers of the Panama
Canal company, is suil’ei'ing with acute
dyspepsia and has been transferred from
the prison of the Concierge-fie to the hos-
pital of St. Louis.
