Mr. and Mrs. Albert B. Manley re-
turned home yesterday from New York
City where they attended the 5th anni-
versary of the wedding of a friend.
The Early Birds Burlesque company
with its aggregation of talent and gor-
geous costumes and scenery will be at
the Norwalk Opera House for only one
performance, to-morrow night.
The infant twins of Mr. and Mrs.
Von Kleet of Washington street, this
city died yesterday. Much sympathy
is expressed by all for the grief stricken
parents in their sad bereavement.
The lecture given for the Chautauqua
Union at the Methodist church last
evening was well attended an ‘very_1n-
teresting as well as highly instructive.
The lecture was given by Mr. William
‘H. Goodyear. —'
Messrs. Reed G. Haviland and Ever-
ett E. Lowndes ‘of this city left to-day
for Milwaukee, Wis., where they are to
engage in the wholesale tobacco busr-
ness. These young men leave many
friends here who will Wish them the
very best of success in their new ven-
ture. 7
A large audience was present at Music
Hall last evening to witness Hoey’s suc-
cessfulmusical comedy “Keep it Dark. ”
W. T. Bryant as “Jasper Vaseline? a
vendor of liver pads kept the house in a
continual roar. The play was a good
one and highly apprecmted by those
present.
People living on Elizabeth street
were somewhat startled Sunday even-
ing by seeing what to all apperances,
was a phantom, making its way slowly
along that thorogghfare. Further ex-
amination prove that the spectre-like
figure was no other than a well-known
.Voung musician, who, after leaving the
home of his sweetheart away over in
the wilds of East Norwalk, had become
lost in the mud, and had been com-
polled to return to the home of his
adored one and procure a lantern with
which to find the sidewalks in East
Norwalk and the electric lights in
South Norwalk.

Ficndish Burglars Killed 'a Widow 'and
Her Three Children.
MUNICH, March 14.—-A horrible murder
is reported from Salmdorf. A house in-
habited by a widow and three children
was found to be on .fire. The neighbors
hastened to extinguish the flames, but
saw nothing of the woman and her chil-
dren. '
When the fire was put out the bodies of
the widow and three children were found.
Although partly burned, the bodies
bore plain evidence that all four had
been murdered. It was found that rob-
bers had broken into the house and,killed
the inmates and plundered the dwelling.
Then the robbers set fire to the house in
order to cover up their crime and make
ad with their hootv.
