Messrs. Oliver Hoyt and Burr Sturges
of Ridgefield, were in South Norwalk
this morning. ' ,

Palestine Castle No. 2, A. O. K. M.
C., will confer the second degree on
six candidates this evening.

The funeral of the late Danieleowns—
end was held Saturday afternoon. In,-
terment 111 Pine Island cemetery.

Hoey’s celebrated comedians-in the
roaring comedy “ Keep it Dark, ” Will
be the attraction at Music Hall to-
night. 7

The funeral of Mrs. Wm. T. Craw
was largely attended from her late resi-
dence No. 97 South Main street yester—
day afternoon.

Benjamin Carpenter of Chicago has
purchased Commodore Burrit’s fast
yacht Rival. The negotiations were
‘ completed Saturday. ‘
Ellis F. Makinwon a handsome meer-

schaum pipe at George S. Trowbridge'

& Co.’s cigar store Saturday night, he
having thrown the highest on the dice
machine. ‘

News received from Peter Ryan, the
bi‘akeman who had his arm taken off
by a Danbury train Friday night, says
that the inJured man is doing as nicely
as could be expected.

Alderman Judson is in receipt of a

fine flock of live quails from a friend in .

Washington, D. C. The flock consists
of eight birds and is the gift of Grover
Cleveland. At least, so Jud. says.

_Mr. Geprge Sehellinger has given up
his posrtion as manager of the Old
Well Billiard Parlors, and gone to
work in Solman’s Hat Factory. Mr.
Haviland has discontinued the busi-
ness at the pool room.

The 17th of March as you all know
occurs on Friday of this week, but
perhaps you all are not aware that on
the evening of that day occurs
Dwyer’s City of Norwalk band
entertainment. A rich treat is in store
for all who attend.

The firemen were called out Satur-
day afternoon by a. fire on Monroe
street, caused by a defective fine. The
fire was soon extinguished, the damage
not amounting to over $50.00. The
house was the one formerly occupied
by A. Orlich, the jeweler.

William Murphy and John Whalen
were fined $2.00 and costs for drunken-
ness by J ustice Barrett this morning
Charles Smith and John Stagnate two
vfieran vagrants were sentenced to
,ten days, and John Cullinane, an old
offender, was fined $7.00 and costs for
assault and breach of the peace by the
same J ustice. All of the culprits were
taken over the road.

Enough to Pa; McKinley’s Debts.

. CHICAGO, March 13.—H. H; Kohlsaat,
trustee of Gov. McKinley, has received
enough money to pay all of the Govern-
’or's debts, and will wipe out every cent
‘of the liabilities by the end of this
' month. More than 4,000 contributors
have supplied the money.

 

Boies Will Not Bun Again.

DES Momns, Iowa, March 13.—There
is good reason to believe that Iowa will
have a Republican Governor next term.
Gov. Boies said in regard to a rumor that
. -he would run again, “Under no circum-
stances will I allow niy iiime to be used
in conneatiqn with‘a thigi‘l term.”__
