The committee on sewers reported bids
for the construction of sewers on Spring.
Henry and Chestnut streets and exten-
sion of Pine Island sewer. Raymond
Ilros.;were awarded the contract.
A resolution was passed authorizing
the committee to make a proper contract
and bond between the city and the con~
tractors for the laying and construction
or said sewers.
Resolution to lay sidewalks on High
street. Bay, View avenue and l'nion
street, was passed.

A few monthsago the people of this
city would havertlicught it incredible
that the interest in base hall would in
crease to the extent that is now lil‘lnl‘
tested among us. It would not be so
if the home club did not strive to please
their patrons by good playing. (‘onsiib
ering the short time that they have been
organized and the little practice they
have had we venture to say that no sin-
ateur club ‘n the state can compare with
them. if ,
During the week a grand stand' has
been erected with a seating capacity of
about four hundred. and everything for
the convenience of those who witness
tbe‘gnmes'is being attended to. Since
our last issue the Norwalks have played
three games. and the one with the Dan-
.burys on their own ground is specially
commendable. A "

The Danburys, of the Eastern League.
kindly tendered to the Norwalks a bene-
fltgeme on Wednesday afternoon, and
about five hundred people witnessed it.
It was understood that Manager Don~
nelly was to pitch the gamedqr the Dan-
burys, but after arriving here they put in
their best battery. Monroe and Shay.
As usual the Norwalks started oil‘ in
tine style but weakened somewhat in
the latter part or the game; ’ At the
ending of the fourth inning the home
club was three runs ahead, and became
excited which was probably the cause of
their defeat. The game contained one
of the best plays that has been seen on
the grounds this season, and the specta-
tors vigorously applauded it. The coach-
ing of the Norwalks was very poor and
an improvement in that line would be
beneficial to the club. As it was. the
playing of the Norwalks surprised
the Dsnbury people. Following is the

The game of last Saturday afternoon
between the Norwalln and the Ansonies
was s disappointment to a large number
of people. It was not bounce the home
club we- defend by one rumbut on ac-

seventh inning the game stood seven to
three in favor of the Norwalks. In the
eighth inning the Ansonias made two
runs by errors, and in tholnst inning the
three runs they scored placed them one
ahead. The playing of some of the Nor-
walks was very poor. but their battery
did excflleut Work. The fact that “UH-
ning struck out ten men makes the de-
test all the more aggravating. lie split
the end of his second finger about the
middle of the game. and made it very
ditficult for him to hold on to the _ bull.
However, the game was very close, and
there can be but ”little doubt that the
costly errors made by the Norwnlks cn
Siaturday will hereafter be averted.
Several changes have been made in the
team which makes it stronger than ever.
