district had already commenced to borrow
money to moot the expenses of the school,
which should all be met by the town with-
out oxtm taxation. making dead loss to
the taxpayers of the expense of cxtru tax
levy and collection. which could all be
done in the regular town tax. and save a
vast amount of trouble in borrowing
money from time to time to pay the ox-
pensee of the school. In discussing the
resolution of instruction to employ Mr.
Lyon and from outside comment it ap-
pears that it is the opinion of some that
the attendance would surely fall 01? if he
was employed, for several reasons: first.
that he could not understood timid chil-
dren nor dull scholars: that he crowded
them with too long lemons and refused to
assist them; that he did not spend time
enough in the school room; that he would
strike children on the head: that the pri-
mary department wanted looking after:
that he lives out of the district and is not
identified with its interests. The other side
said that he was s remarkable successful
teacher. end that these chergea were all
imaginary: that our school never had ed-
vsnocd so much undernny teacher es un-
der Mr. Lyon; that it was the perente
