last Friday. Mr. Benjamin L. Gregory. of
thgedeld, in company with his father and
some others from the some place. went down
to Round Beach clamoring. To get to
Round Beach it is necessary to cross a chan-
nel of water. which at low water in fur-da-
ble. Mr. Gregory and the rest of them
went over to the beach in a boat and re-
umined clamoring until the tide roan. when
part of them set out for the main land in
the boat. leaving Gregory and another young
mun on the beach. After the boat had gone
and had landed on the main land. Gregory
and his companion. started to swim across
the channel. carrying their churns with
them. The clams were undoubtedly the
cause of Gregory‘s death. lie had put
what he had got into what farmers use for
dropping potatoes or sowing sced.—a bug
hung from the nook by a string. He threw
the bag containing about a peek of clump
upon his back. and had got partly across to
the shore. when his companion changed his
mind and awutn back to the bench to wait
for the bout to curry him to the main land.
Gregory continued on his way. and soon af-
ter was heard to cull for help, and seen to
20 down to rise no more. The bug of
chum. it socms,wuahed all his back. and
coming around so as to draw upon his neck.
he was unable to float. and was drowned.

said that he could orally swim a couple of
