The observance of independence
Day begun Saturday evening with
a ball. forwvhlcli Sturdovunt's ore
chestra furnished music. There was
a noticeable number of out of town
people at the dance.
Yesterday afternoon‘s high tide
attracted many to the water. pos-
sibly the largest number in bathing
this year.
All day today the younger set at
the club has been furnishing much
amusement with fireworks.
This evening will see the big event
of the celebration. There will be a
novelty ball with entertainers from
New York City. There will be con-
tinuous dancing with Sword's Ol‘CllL‘B-I
tra of New Haven and Sturdevnnt‘s
orchestra alternating the dance
tunes. Many reservations have been
made with Frank the steward for
midnight supper parties.
Village
The first large dance and enter-
tainment of the season took place
at the Village Room in Silvermiue
Saturday night. About so guests
were present.
Special decorations had been pre-
pared for the affair. A wagon wheel
boasting red white and blue decor-
ations and colored electric lights
was the feature. Streamers and Jo-
panoso lanterns added a bright

lowed by Cadman‘s “At Dawing."
Walter Sheen played Fritz Kreis-
