For every “butter and egg man"
that bucks a pretty chorine in a
New York show there are ten "big

lications, and exhibitions and lime
theatre movements 1 note that 7.3
per cent of the donors are women.
There are any number of young
men who noltw- this list' for bet-
ter than I and who draw upon it for
any number of fine sounding ven-
tures that afford excellent incomes
as long as they last.
Among my acquaintances are two
young men. both in their early thir-
ties who. to my" knowledge. have tor-
gotten the meaning of the word
"work." Having little else to do but
browse about. at teas and other
gatherings these young men have
achieved a wide acquaintance among
"people of importance" in the world
of writers and artists. The “insur-
ance widows" are quite willing to

cle of "lions." So why should a
bright young man work? '
