under the title "Smooth as Satin." 1".

the screen version of which has been
done by Arthur Statter. and. if re-
ports from the coast may be believ-
ed. nothing which Miss Brent has
done in the past. touches the per-
formance she gives in "Smooth as
Satin." The Veiller drama is a per.
foot vehicle for the transmission of
her undoubted ability. and that it is
a corking story with many unexpect-
ed twists goes without saying. for
there have been few if any play-
wrights with the fitness in handling
this type of entertainment to com-
pare with the autor of “Within the
Law" and “The Thirteenth Chair.“
