It is curious how often changes
have been opposed in Connecticut by
certain expresses of opinion when
such chenges have invariably proved
beneficial. One can look back and
and opposition to the Workmen‘s
Compensation law. the Public Utili-
ties Commission. the taxation laws of
1915. the state police. the highways.
the automobile regulations and so on.
And yet eyeryone of these measures
and many others. have proved high-
ly beneficial to the State.
It is just so today in the creation
of a business like commission to see
how State departments can be im-
proved, to ‘better the State service.
Again, there was criticism of the
State‘s action for trying to improve
its magnificent sanitarium at Nian-
tie. for the cure of bent and deform-
' ed -children.

is solely of the oppoaition brand.
