gathered: A boy received it per cent
of his character at home. 25 per co‘
st preparatory school. 5 per cent at
college and 5 per cent in bus-cm.

the associations of their children. The
'moment that they leave their mothers'
apron strings they will get into trou-
ble. They get rubbing always with
the lower class and there is a lower
class. and this is where their char-

zen then it is up to him to devote his
time and money to his son.
"It is said that I always harp on
sportsmanship. Xaybe I do. but I
think that it helps a boy. I wish to
cite an example. “’hen I was grad-
uated from. Annapolis I took a po-
sition as teacher at the New York
Military Academy and one of my du-
ties was to coach the football team.
The first game that they played an-
der me was against the EramM High
School and they won the game. In
the very first quarter one of the play-
on came to me and said. 'llr. Coch-
ran. I can not make my opponent’s
nose bleed.’ I did not. know what
he meant. So I took him out of the
game. but I afterwards loaned that
the coach who was there before me
had told them to hit their opponents
on the nose during the very first play
of the game and they would win their
game. This was swango. to mo and
I tried to change it. One day I
found a little note book in the room
of the captain of the team. and it
stated in one of the leafs that 'Sistcr'
Cochran was coaching the football
team. This peeved me and I determ-
ined to show the students that it was
not ‘Sistor Cochran.’ So with a
friend of mine I played on the scrubs
against the first team every day for
two weeks and during that time I
convinced them. I was there four
years and during that time I preached
sportsmanship to them. During the
