NEARLY FINISHED
NE\V YORK. March 23.—Spring—
officially here now—reached the new
Yankee stadium today.
While workers continued to put the ‘
stadium in condition for the opening
game of the season between the
American League champions and the
Boston Red Sox. April 18. a. crew of
snow sliovclers scraped away the last
vestige of winter from the shady nooks
of the. 82.500.000 structure. In con-
trast to the still unmclted banks of
snow. the grass of ‘the playing field
had taken on an unmistakable shade
of green.
Construction is in its last stages.
The last section of the huge grand
stand is being finished. and with the
expunsixe bleachers ready for occu-
pancy. 73.009 persons can be seated in
the great bowl. in future years. the
seating capacity will be increased to
8100.000.
