A man who is believed to have been
Francisco Moods, of Stamford, was
burned to death when his shack. which
is situated in what is known as the
Nod district, of Wilton, was burned to
the ground, yesterday afternoon, at
about 1:30 o'clock, There was noth-
ing left in the ruins to identify thei
dead man.

automobile truck figured in an acci-
dent this morning in Lexington ave-
nue, by which a little girl was some-
what injured and narrowly 'escuped
being run over,
The truck, with John Luddingtou as
chauffeur, was going down Lexington
avenue, to attend to some repairwork,
when a woman with two small chil-
dren attempted towross the sheet.
As the mother hesitated and started
back to the sidewalk, Mr. Luddington
expected the children would do like
wise, and he kept on his Journey. At
this instant the girl, between three
an four years of age. ran directly in
front of the machine. Mr. Ludding-
ton applied the brakes, but could not
prevent the car from striking the
child. She was knocked down, but
was not run over. There was a bad
bruise on the forehead and a fracture
of the nose. where the ‘child had been
hit.
