ber contains an article by Rev. Charles
S. Macfariand on "The Moral Signl
licence and influence or Organized La-
bor", which the Springfield Republi-
can characterizes as the best setting
forth of the good things which indus-
trial organizations have done that has
yet appeared.
In it Dr. Macfnrland points out the
work of these organizations in sup-
pressing sweattng, regulating induct
trial relations between the sexes, its
work with regard to women and child
labor, and a great many other similar

the Democrats are being heard. and
whereas leading members of the party
have previously felt somewhat uneasy
over the head of the ticket because of
Dr. Bumell‘s disincllirution to run.
they now feel much confidence in the
outlook. Dr. Burucil continues just as
much as ever the idol of the party. but
he feels that he has done his duty in
serving two terms. and that he can-
not further spare the necessary time
from his practice.
Dr. Wolfe is a young man who has
grown very rapidly in the affections of
the people of the city arid the mem-
bers of the party feel that they could
not name a stronger candidate for the
cities. He is a member of several fra-
ternal organizations. and there are few
men in the city who are known to so
many people as he i.a
The ticket for the city council has
not yet been frilly decided upon. but
in addition to the names already men-
tioned. that of James A. Lockwood.
foreman in the Lockwood Manufactur-
ing Company plant, is being seriously
considered. The indications are that
D. Louis Ladrlgan will be named as
city registrar and 'J. J'. Unxweiler. in-‘
specter of elections.
