Made a Record Exit in Murder Trial
Yesterday Morning.

ted from the criminal superior court

of the Adams murder trial before
Judge Joel H. Reed and a jury. lie

ports Against increasing
License Tax. '
CAPITOL, HARTFORD, May 2li.~—
in Ihe Senate yesterday morning. the
committee in fisheries and game made
an unfavorable report on the bill
which proposed to increase the license
fee for vessels working on the natural
oyster beds.
The present. law provides that all
vessels of five tone or under shall pay
a fee of 82 and bOcents him for ev»
cry ton over five. The new law pro-
vides to charge $15 for vessels of 15
tons and under and 823 for all vessels
over 15 tons.
. Bill Rejected.
Senator Brennan in explaining the
bill stated that there was much about
the constitutionality of'such a law as
the amount to be charged would not
be a fee but u lax. Upon his motion
the. bill was rejected.
The oystcrmeu of Bridgeport and
Strntfcrd were strongly opposed to
this bill, and sent up a large petition
against it. They will be glad to know
that it. has been rejected.
To Visit Bridgeport.
The adjourned committee of the
humane institutions visit Bridgeport
on Friday Io look over the institution
in flint city. It is understood that the
committee will be the guest of Sheriff
Sidney E. Hawlcy who will show them
