back slightly. The advance was resum-
ed iater under the leadership of United
States Steel. pfd.. which was bought
in large blocks up to 55%. Other fav-
orites sold well above Saturday’s close,
especially St. Paul, Southern Paclilc.
Missouri Pacific. Amalgamated Copper
and Brooklyn Transit. Manhattan mov-
ed up 1% rapidly. and Metropolitan
Street Railway also rallied sharply.
