At the annual encampment of the
Department of Connecticut, Grand
Army of the Republic, at Unity hall.
Hartford, Wednesday afternoon. there
was debate on a resolution. presented
by the Rev. D. R. Lowell, of Middle-
town, intiorslng the proposed meeting
of theb lite. and the gray. Judge Al-
fred ll. Beers. of Bridgeport, and oth-
ers objectetd. Finally after several
members had expressed the view that
they could not countenance meeting
with the old Confederate flag flying
over them. as proposed, the resolution
was indefinitely postponed by an over-
whelming vote.
