wickedness as some allege, but because her
intitial letter is' so far down in the alphabet

could do to attend to the other letters, can-

The funeral of Amzi Warren, Jr., killed

tional church, Greens Farms, Sunday after-
noon. The father of deceased being a
prominent man in the church, found many
sympathizing hearts and vast crowds as-
sembled inthe church to sorrow with him

was filled with people who came to hear
the pastOr, Rev. Mr. \Broom, preach from
the subject, “the rich man in the case of

Last Thursday evening, as Mr. Jas.
Gafi‘ney was walking on thetrack from this
city to his home in Stratford, ha was struck
by the owl train goingeast, which leaves
here at 10:30, when near the new West
Stratford depot, and bruised and mangled
in a horrible manner. The _ train was
stopped, and he was taken on board and
curried to Stratford, where he died in a few
moments after being carried into the depot.
Friday about 10 o'clock a horse and
buggy were stolen from in front of Mr.
George Pelt’s, at Old Farms.
Willie Holden, a oung lad who was
sent to jail last Thurs ay week for a period

Henry Kavanah, a little boy seven years of
age, son of Mr.-Peter Kavanah, baggage
master at the depot, was accidentallykilled
by the cars. : " " > 5

the track, was in the car house standing

which receives the shock of the cars when
they stop“. Acar was standing on the track,
near the post." The' boy was intently
watching the operations of some workmen
underneath the car house, and meanwhile
the 7:30 train backed up to take on the car.
The poor child was caughtbetween the car
and the post and instantly killed. His neck
was broken and he received other injuries,
altogether sufficient to cause instantaneous
