Tire Hotel Building has been purchased
Iy L. II. Moore, and Capt. W. H. Ferris of
South Norwalk, who are thoroughly renova-
.ing it, and expect to put it in a condition fit
for immediate use. We hope to see it filled
with boarders this very season.
We rejoice in the prosperity of our little
suburb. The fact that three or four gangs
of carpenters have found steady employment
for the last. eighteen months in the neighbor-
hood, testrfies to its substantial growth. That
splendid stream of water that threads its
way down through it invites manufactures,
and its broad, safe harbor invites commerce.
Not long will these natural advantages go
uuappreciated.
RIDGEFIELD.-The Choir of St. Stephen’s
Church, give another of their excellent con-
certs this (Tuesday), evening, for the benefit
of the Church. The boy singer, Ernest, of
Danbury will assist.
Wes'rron'r.—Oue of the most disastrous
runaways which has occurred recently in
this section, happened to Mr. Gersbam 1}.
Bradley, of Saugatuck, last Wednesday.—
Mr. Bradley and his wife were on a visit to
some friends in Easton, and while his team
was hitched in front of Mr. Freborn’s resi-
dence, a yoke of oxen having got loose in the
street came running by, the yoke and other
gear attached to them, making considerable
noise, which started thehorscs and before Mr.
Bradley could reach them they snapped their
. halters and sped down the street. The high-
‘way descending the hill near Mr. Frcborn’s
takes a mearrderiug course which somewhat
impeded their progress and made it difficult
for them to follow, and coming _.to a short
turn in the road, they kept on a straight
course, scaling the fence, carrying tfrc Rock—
away With them, passing over rocks, through
bushes and over a field to another fence
which they likewise leaped demolishing the
carriage, breaking the harness in pieces and
lll‘tltillg a complete wreck of everything.
They run until completely exhausted; one
horse was so badly injured that. he was left
on the field, where he died soon after, the
other is in a critical condition. The horses
were young, and carriage nearly new. The
damage will not fall much short of $000.

lVES’l‘ON.—A Festival and Fair is to be
held next week Tuesday and Wednesday,
under the Co. Agricultural Society‘s large
Tent, the proceeds to be appropriated tow-
wards paying for the new organ in the Con-
gregatioual Church. Some fine singing may
be exported, and Strawberries, Ice Cream,
&c , will abound. People from Norwalk,
West port, and other adjacent towns can have
a delightful drive and spend a pleasant even-
ing by attending this Festival, where they
will be welcomed by the ladies who will ex-
ert themselves to please.
Unusual—Alex McCarthy has received
the apopiutment of Cadet at. the Annapolis
Naval Academy.
The afternoon service in the First Cong'l
Church has been dispensed with, and preach-
