A Wonderful Vessel.
Brunei is building on the banks of the
Tlmmes. near London, the mammoth
steamer of the world. She is construct-
ed entirely of iron plates, is a quarter of
a_mile in length, and about twice the
size of Noali’s ark. She is divided by
bulkheads into twenty one compartments,
is to have four steam engines to driv_e
he’ lraddle-wheels, and six more to turn
a large screw. Besides these, she is to
carry seven masts. There will be ac-
commodations for four thousand passen-
gets. Her steam engines are to weigh
the anchor, work the pumps, and raise
ml?» sail.-. She is to be lighted with gas
and furnished with telegraphic wires.
At the. mast head she is i.o carry an
electric light, visible fifteen miles, and
casting a beautiful radiance on the sea
for a half a mile around. For life-boats,
she is to carry a couple of screw steam-
ers, ninety feet long, and a small fleet of
yawls and jolly ‘boats. She is to be
called the "Great Eastern,” intended
for the Pacific trade, and expected to go
round-the globe without once stopping
for coal.
Ground and Unground Feed.—Those
expefleflcfid and skillful farmers, the Le-
banon (N. H.) Snakers, state that more
than 30 years’ practice leads them to es-
timate groqnd corn at oiie-tliird higher
than unground,.as food" for cattle, and
especially»-for fattening pork. The same
experience also induces them to put a
higher value upon raw meat; an dfor fat-
tening animals, swine particularly. they
consider 3 of cooked equal to 4 bushel of
raw meal. Until within the last, three
or four years they have fatteiied anntiallv
for 30 years, from 40, 000 to 50, 000
pounds of pork, exclusive of lard and offal
fat ; and their constant habit has been to
Cook the meal.
Charcoal far Swine ——It is not, per-
riaps, generally known, that one of the
nest articles that can be given to swine
while in preparation for the tub, is com-
mou charcoal. The nutritive properties
are so great that they have stibsisted on
it without other food for weeks together.
Geese confined so as to deprive them of
motion, andfatteued on three grains of
corn per day, and as much coal as they
can devour, have become fattened in
eight days. The hog eats voraciously,
after a little time, and is never sick while
he has a good supply. It should always
be kept in the siy, and be fed to the in-
mates regularly like other food.
A Valuable Newspaper ——The Lon-
don Tinies was establshed in 1785, by
John Walter, and inherited by his son,
now a member of Parliament. It is
valued at $3,750,000. Its principal ed-
itor has a salary of $25,000, and its
Paris correspondent $10,000. Its ad-
vertisements, it is estimated, yield it $3,-
000,000‘ a year, one firm alone paying
$150,000 a year. The " leader” of the
'.l.‘imes is telegraphed every morning to
all the principal towns of England, and,
being written otit in large letters and
fixed to a bulletin-board, is posted in the
public exchange. At Glasgow, Live.--
pool, Manchestei, and scores of other
places of less magnitude, crowds of i1ier-
chants and other influential men may be
seen, early in the day thronging around
these boards and perusing the “ leader.

torpidity, congestion, or obstructions of the Liver.
Torpidity and congestion vitiate the bile and render
it unfit for digestion. This is disastrous to the
health, and the constitution is frequently under-
mined by no other cause. Indigestion is the symp-
tom. Obstruction of the duct which empties the
bile into the stomach causes the bile to overflow
into the blood. This produces J aundice, with a
long and dangerous train of evils. Costiyeness, or
alternately costiveness and diarrhoea, prevails.
F1-verish symptoms, litnguor, low spirits, weariness,
restlessness, and melancholy, with sometimes in-
ability to sleep, and sometimes great drowsiness;
sometimes there is severe pain in the side ; the skin
and the white of the eyes become a greenish yellow;
the stomach acid; the bowels sore to the touch;
the whole system irritable, with a tendency to fever,
which may turn to bilious fever, bilious colic, bilious
diarrhtea, dysentery, &c. A medium dose of three
or four Pills taken at night, followed by two or three
in the morning, and repeated a. few days,wiI1 remove
the cause of all these troubles. It is wicked to suffer
such pains when you can cure them for 25 cents.
RHEUMATISM, GOUT, and all Inflammatory Fe-
vers, are rapidly cured by the purifying effects of
these Pills upon the blood and the stimulus which
thgy afford to the vital princi :11 of Life. For these
an all kindred complaints t ey should be taken in
mild doses, to move the bowels gently, but freely.
As a DINNER PILL, this is both agreeable and
