drifted, never was better. The harbor is locked
up as tight as a drum, and winter, on this 2d day

New York State Colonization Society are mak-
ing preparatious for sending an Expedition to
Liberia about the first of July next, and have
published a Circular, in which they offer a free
passage to Monrovia, Africa, to such emigrants
of suitable character as may wish to embark,
together with provisions for six months, and a.
guarantee‘ of land upon which to settle, in the
colny of Liberia. This is a liberal offer to our
people of color, and places within-their reach
the means of improving their condition, and rank,
in a society where they may become eligible to
any position or prefermetlo—where the disa-
bilities of color shall not be felt or known. Com-
