trouble of examiuling into the‘ merits of the rival
claimants for their original proprietorship of this
medicine, and can scarcelyfrepress the indigna-
tion we feel at the imposition practised upon us
by Mr. J. Burritt, of NO. 12 Gold street, who
introduced to Our clerk as the veritable Dr. Geo.
Taylor, a person by the name of Wilson. Mr.
B. afterwards admitted that it was not Dr. Tay-
lor, and that the papers exhibited to us signed
Geo. Taylor, M. D. were not signed by him_at
all, but were writieii by this Dr. Wilson, by v_ir—
tue, as was alleged, ofa power of attorney. g1V-
en\by Dr. Taylor, but which be had never seen
no more than be had the person professing to
act under such authority. VVe have conversed
with the genilemanly proprietor of the Balsam
ofLiverwOrt, 3'75 Bowery, who liasbeen known
to us as the advertiser and vender of this medi-
cine for seven years past, and who is still at the
~ same place,—and he has given us the most
complete testimonials Of his right. and that all
others who offer the article for sale, (except nian-
ufactured by him) are practising imposition up-
on the public. ‘
It will be seen by the article below, that we
are not the only conductors of the press who
have been imposed upon by Buriitt and his as-
sociates. 'We have directed all adveriisemeiits
froui their concern to be discontinued from our
columns; and if other editors are imposedon in

are compelled, once more, and we hope for the
last time, to allude to the claims of two con-
tending parties, selling the invaluable medicine
of Taylor's Balsam of Liverwort. \Ve have
been led into this contrOvers_v—tliis trouble and
difficulty-—by the impudent and shallow pre-
tensions of Mr. VVrn. J. Burritt, of 12 Gold st.
—w ho displayed to us a number of documents
purporting to have been signed by the identical
George Taylor, whose name the medicine in
question bears. giving him authority not only to
sell the medicine—but authority to him alone;
and further to use and sign his tianie for all pur-
poses coiiiicctcd with the Balsam of Liverwort.
We are now perfectly satisfied Ilia‘. the said
George Taylor never gave Burriti the use Of
his signature. at any time, or under any circum-
stances. We are also satisfied, and the more
so after the perusal of Burritt‘s documentary
humbug, that the only place to get the genuine
article Of TaylOr’s Balsam of Liverwort, is at
375 Bowery. \Vc believe the Original recipe is
tliere—aud there only. One word more, and
ourtask is done. There is no such person at

as represented in Burritt’s advertisements. \Ve
have made personal application at this place,
and satisfied ourselfoftlie fact. Now to cut the
matter short, we have requested our publishers
to take out these fraudulent advertisements from
the columns of the Planet, and it will be seen
that they have complied with the request: and
all editors of papers will do well to follow our
example, by ceasing at once to give currency to
the pretensions of a man capable of practising

the medicine being found only in the cemetries
