The Anniversary of our National Independ-
ence was celebrated in Wesiport by the Demo-
cratic Republicans in a manner that does honor
to ‘the party.’ A mtiltitude, whose number has
been variously estimated, but which in fact, can-
not have fallen for short of one hundred and
twenty, consisting of individuals from towns in
the county, assembled at an early hour at the
place of meeting.
At 11 o'clock, a procession was formed under
the direction of the Marshal which accompani-
ed by a band of music, marched to the Univer-
salistmceting house. After an appropriate pray-
er by the Rev. Mr. Hitchcock, and the readiiig
