health secretions of the glandular system more than
once, y using the Tomato Apple as avegetable; I have
been induced to try this medicine iitvarious diseases.-
In the Autumnal Ititerniittents, prevalent in this section
of the States, I have no doubt Dr. Phelps’ Compound
Tomato Pills will, in a. great measure, if not entirely
supersede the use of CALOMEL. Ibelieve that in diseas-
ed liver they are more prompt in their effect, and as
gficienl, as Caiomel—I have tried them in various other
iseases as Rheumatism, Dyspepsia, Jaundice, &.c., with
the most happy efl'ects.—As far as my knowledge ex-
tends, I have no hesitancy in recommending them as a
highly valuable Family IV edicine.

Dear Sir,—Xt gives me great pleasure tn being able to
Iitnte to you my opinion, and the result of my experience
of your Compound Tomato Pills. You must be_ aware
that, like our profession generally, I am prejudiced
against all remedies usually denominated “ atent medi-
cines,” but hearing your Pills highly extol ed by some
of my friends, I was induced to procure afew boxes and
give them 8. trial; and this I was the more inclined to
do, from my intimate knowledge of; and confidence in,
your moral and professional character.
I have prescribed your Pills in cases of bilious afl'ec-
tians, and diseases of the liver and stomach, and the re-
sult has been hi lily satisfactory. In one case particu-
larly. of severe yspcptic symptoms, the relief exceeded
my mos.‘ sanguine expectations.
Judging from the recipe, as it was communicated to me,
I should think your compound would be safe in all cases,
and applicable to most of those in which it is recom-
mended. ‘ _
I take me more pleasure in writing to you on this sub-
ject, because I understand that great efforts have been
made by persons interested in another medicine, to tra-
duce your character as a gentleman, and 9. Pltysician
and to injure the sale of your medicine and wrest from
you the benefits of your labors and investigation, by
charging you with imposition, quackcry, am.
You are at liberty to use this in such a manner as
you please, and also to refer to me in regard to yourself‘,
or your valuable discovery.
