forth by the Agent in this section, and by those who had
the opportunity of trying Dr. Phelps’ Compound Tomato
Pills—nnd being under the firm belief of having restored
health secretions of the glandular system more than
once, y using the Tomato Apple as avcgetable; I have
been induced to try this medicine in various diseases.-
In the Autumnal Intermitlents, prevalent in this section
of the States, I have no doubt Dr. Phelps’ Compound
Tomato Pills will, in a great measure, if not nntirely
supersede the use of CALOMEL. I believe that in diseas-
ed liver the are more prompt in their effect, and as
fficienr, as Lalomcl—I have tried them in various other
'seases as Rheumatism, Dyspepsia, Jaundice, &c., with
the most happy cffects.—As far as my knowledge ex-
tends, I have no hesitancy in recommending them as a
highly valuable Family Medicine.

Dear Sir,—It gives me great pleasure in being able to
state to you my opinion, and the result of my experience
of your Compound Tomato Pills. You must be aware
that, like our profession generally, I am prejudiced
ainst all remedies usually denominated “ atent. medi-
cines,” but hearing your Pills highly exto ed by some
of my friends, I was induced to procure 9. few boxes and
give them a trial; and this I was the more inclined to
do, from my intimate knowledge of} and confidence in,
your moral and professional character.
I have rescribcd your Pills in cases of bilious afi'ec-
lions, an diseases of the liver and stomach, and the re-
sult has been hi hly satisfactory. In one case particu-
larly. of severe yapeptic symptoms, the relief exceeded
my mos,‘ sanguine expectations.
Judging from the recipe, as it was communicated to me,
I should think your compound would bé safe in all cases,
and applicable to most of those in which it is recom-
mended.
I take tne more pleasure in writing to you on this sub-
ject, because I understand that great efforts have been
made by persons interested in another medicine, to tra-
duce your character as a gentleman, and a Physician
and to injure the sale of your medicine, and wrest from
you the benefits of your labors and investigation, by
cliarging you with imposition, quackcry, &c.
You are at liberty to use this in such a. manner as
you please, and also to refer to me in regard to yourself,
or our valuable discovery.
