rived at N. York on the 23d instant, bringing
Liverpool dates to the 2lst and London to

rival is not very important. The movements
-of the Chartists excite less interest than they
-did at the last prior data. Some disturbance
ibad occurred among the weavers at Kirrie-
zmuir, owing to the i'cd-action Of wages, and
‘several who had been actively engaged in in-
ducing a strl/re had been arresicd; but they
were liberated by a mob, who surrounded the
prison and in a fair fight put the police to

ry System, which keep the laboring classes

Grande, killed about thirty ‘of them, and
plundered and destroyed every thing they
could lay their hands On. .
_ A passenger on board the Emblem, also
informs us that General Lamas had taken
possession of the city of Durango, the capital
of the state of that name, and also the town
of Satillo, and was marching On Zacatecas,
about 200 miles distant from the former place.
The whole interior was in arms against
the government, and it was supposed that
Gen. Bustamente would have to quit his sta-
tron near Tampico, and procetd to the in-
terror. Matamoras was still in possession of
the government party, consisting of about
1000 men, who, instead of rejoicing at the
death of Gen. Mejia, were so disgusted with
the villany and cruelty of Santa Anna, that‘
it was supposed they would offer their assist-
ance to the federal army in case ofan attack,
which was daily’ expected. A Mexican
passenger in the E. laughed at the idea Of the
government party entertaining even a hope
of ever being able totake possession of Tam-
pico. ‘
It- is stated that I00 tons of maple sugar,
equal to the purest Havana, have already
been manufactured, this season, in a single
County-in Ohio.

cines have been introduced into the Fever and
Ague Districts, and ilie proprietor flatter: bim-
