§ VVe. learn from a Hartford correspon-
dent, that there was a very ridiculous exhi-
bition of Loco Focoism in the Senate at the
organization of that body. VVhcn the mem-
bers were called to order for the choice of a
President pro (em, Mr. VVildnian ofthe llth
District, and Mr. Cook of the 6th District,
who had no certificates of election, and of
course, had no right to appear, except as pc-
titioncrs, took their seats with the rest. and
they had been legally returned. After the
President was chosen, they proceeded to qual-
ify with the rest. , Subsequently a resolution
was offered that a committee be appointed to
examine their case, without any application
from t/rem, and without any regard to the
usual course of a memorial and referred to
the committee on contested elections. This
was indefinitely postponed. Messrs. Wild-
man and Cook were then informed by some
kind friend, that they had no business there—
whereupon they evacuated. They then sent
a memorial which tvas referred to the appro-
priate committee, and 21 resolution passed ad-
mitting these gentlemen to their seats. They
were then sworn 0'L'8‘I‘ again according to law
and usage.

sage, compels us to abridge the proceedings
of the Lt~gisl-.iture,. and omit many articles
intended for this number.

Engltnd since our last. The news is very
pacific. There is no prospect of the forma-
tion ofa coalition cabinet in France.
