Isaac Selleck, Ephraim Thomes and
Frank H. Merrill are elected selectmen
for the ensuing year.
In the city Arthur C. Wheeler, re-
publican candidate for mayor, defeated
James '1‘. Hubbell, the present mayor.
by a majority of ninei1- -one.
At South Norwalkhl avor Lee, repub-
lican. was re-eiected by 117 majority.
In both cities every republican candi-
date was elected, with the exception of
John W. Bake, at South VNorwalk, who
was defeated by Robert G. Mitchell for
collector.
The consolidation of school districts
was defeated by a. majority of 2.

V. iitsn and Darren gave republican mn-
jorities.
In Wesiport the democratic ticket
was elected, but a majority of 121 was

The town of Bedding gave an aver-
age Republican majority of 25.
A bitter fight was waged over the
question of license. which was won for
no license by a majority of 21.
DANBURY.
Both democratic selectmen were
elected in Danbury, the republicans
electing the town clerk. License was
carried byI588 majority.
OTHER TOWNS.
Greenwich—Nearly every office was
won by the republicans. The no li-
cense people carried the day.
Bethei.—Two republican Selectmen
elected. Republican town clerk elected.
No license vote carried.
Trumbull.—Two republican select-
men elected. The office of town clerk
went to the democratic nominee. No
license carried by a good majority.
Fairfieid.——1‘ho democrats elected the '
first selectmen and town treasurer.
‘,Stratiordn—The republicans carried
everything. An inorease vote was
giVen for license.
Southport.—'I‘wo democratic select-
men elected. Republican town clerk.

Election N otes.
Only 1260 votes were cast on the
quest1on of consolidating the school
districts. The votes were pretty evenly
div1ded, there being 634 ballots cast in
favor of consolidation and 636 against.
At the Town House the counters
found four marked ballots. four double
ballots and three city tickets.
The women’s ballot box failed to
Collect a Single ballot.
Reporter R. G. Mitchell was the only
candidate on the South Norwalk demo-
cratic ticket elected. He received only
four votes less than he received last
One democratic ballot, cast by
a probibitionist, had every name
scratched excepting Mr. Mitchell’s.
The majority of 121 against license in
Westport is the greatest surprise of the
election.
Walter R. Bates received 57 pester
on republican tickets, but failed in get—
ting elected.
Robert N. “Moreno” received one
vote and Eugene Boyer two.
' John H. Louder was elected a grand
juror, and is the first colored man ever
elected to that oifice in town.
On the city ticket A. 0. Wheeler had
4 posters on James ’1‘. Hubbell and the
latter had 51 on Mr. Wheeler.
One hundred and thirty-two out of
164 towns that voted, Show Republican
85; Democratic 23; divided 24. Fifty-
fuur towns vote license and seventy-
eight no license.
