helping unload a monument.

James Keefe, a resident of Bridge-
port, and employed at Lowe’s boiler
shop, was badly scalded on his right

A verdict of $3,150 and costs in favor

in the suit of U. S. Canfield, trustee of
the insolvent estate of the Bridgeport
Vitrified Pipe 00., against James B.
Gregory. The suit was to recover the
balance due for capital stock of the

Baptist Union.
The Baptist Young People’s Union of
Connecticut- held two interesting ses-
sions, afternoon and evening, at the
First Baptist Church, Hartford, Wed-
nesday. In the afternoon Fred A. Car-
penter spoke upon the work in that
city, Fayette Goss of Willimantic read
a paper on ‘ ‘Some Mountains to Climb.”
Miss Mary F. Partric of Norwalk spoke
upon “Doing Our Best for God,” the
Rev. P. S. Evans of New Haven talked
upon “Domestic Missions,” the Rev. J.
C. Breaker of Southington made an
address on “One Phase of Loyalty to
Christ,” and H.- D. Stanton spoke upon
‘ ‘Personal Responsibilities.”

Boiler Exploded. .
The tugboat Rambler, owned by the
Empire and New England Transporta-
tion Company, was wrecked at her
dock in New Haven on Wednesday, by
the explosion of her boiler. Frederick
Weller, thirty years old, the cook, is
missing, and as hewas on the boat a
minute before the explosion there is no
doubt ‘but that his body was carried
down with the hull of the tug.
Engineer William H. Weimer, of the
Rambler, and Second Engineer Carney,
of the tug Thomas J. Walsh, which
was lying near the Rambler, are iuthe
hospital suffering from serious injuries.
Patrick O’Hara and Patrick Harrigan,
employee of , the Consolidated road,
I were also injured by the explosion.
