burning structure its timbers were crack-
l’ng in a rapidly spreading blaze, threaten-
ing the large buildings on either side.

Catlin’s Mania Said to Be Due to Excite—
ment About Faith. Cures.
ELIZABETH, N. J ., Feb. 15,—Since the ar-
rest of John Jesse Catlin when he attempt-
ed to brain his son and threatened to kill
his Wife, it has been learned that about a
year ago, when the faith curists began their
operations in Elizabeth, he left the Second
Presbyterian church and joined the faith
cure forces and became, as his friends say,
a firm believer that all the evils of life
would'be cured through faith.
W'hen at Boynton Beach last summer he
says that while in bathing he was under
the water 15 minutes, but got out and was
saved simply by faith. It is said that his

Dr. Meriweather said his pulse was only
40 and respiration 10, but in a few minutes
after injecting the antidote into the arm he
revived and is now well. He Wrote a letter
to his wife saying financial circumstances
caused his attempt at self destruction.
The antidote-mentioned in the above dis-
patch is that lately discovered and demon-
strated by Dr. Willis Moor of the West
Side German clinic in .. ew York.
The Arkansas case, reported above, isbe-
lieved to be the first test of the new anti-

tel, 919 Broadway, New York, shortly
before 9 o’clock last night, which did a
damage of $300. The fire was caused
by an overheated steam radiator in as
