The O. U. A. M. meets to-night.
No arrests by the police last night.
A number of telegraph wires at the
Washington street crossing fell. this
morning from the weight of snow and
ice. '
Mr. T. Euphrat this morning told a
GAZETTE representative that the factory
for the manufacture of his new life
saving devxce for cars would be erected
in Darien.
While attempting to open their road
at an early hour this morning, the
Tramway company made an electrical
display that many took to be beat
lightning. ,
The remains of M: 3. Anna Green ,who
died in this city, yesterday, aged 74
years, will be taken to Evergreons
cemetery. Brooklyn, to-morrow morn-
ing, for interment.
The snow storm last night greatly
interferred with the Tramway com-
pany and it was not until a late hour
this morning that they succeeded in
' getting a car through to the Norwalk
end of their line.
At the adjourned Council meeting
last night, the ten existing bonds of
the city, numbered from 91 to 100, were
ordered cancelled, as directed by the
city meeting Monday night last. The
meeting then adjourned until Wednes-
day evening, December 27, when the
affairs of the present Council will be
wound up. '
Francis B. Wakeley, a gentleman
about 50 years of age, whose home is
in Fairfield, has disappeared. says an
exchange, and his family and friends
are much distressed. having no clue to
his whereabouts. Mr. Wakeley has
been taking the gold cure in the South
Norwalk institution, and Friday he
went to Bridgeport, saying nothing to
his friends but good-bye, and giving
no intimation of any intention of mak-
ing a prolonged visit. He evidently
remained in Bridgeport Friday night,
as he was seen there Saturday morning.
Since that time, however, nothing
has been seen or heard of him and he
has disappeared as completely as if
swallowed up in the earth.
There are two theories which, though
somewhat improbable, yet hold out
slight hope to his friends. They are
that he may either have gone back
to the South Norwalk institution or to
a sister’s who is living in New York.
Should he not be found at either of
these places search will be instituted at
once.
