There is a storm of protest at Hart-
ford overthe proposed bill providing
a fine of $10. and costs, and a sojourn in
fondness of piscatorial sport drives
them to desecrate the Sabbath day. It
was erroneously stated in the papers
last Friday that the bill had been passed
by the Senate; on the contrary, it was
only referred to the Fisheries commit-
ee.
The protest against its enactment as
a law comes from the poorer or work-
ing class, who claim that it isn. measure
constituted wholly in the interests of
the well-to-do people, who can afford
to take a day, now and then, or a couple
of them, if need be, to indulge their
pleasure in fishing or any other sport.
The kickers are in earnest, and their
strength is undoubtedly oreat enough
to insure the death of the lbill.
