This morning about two o’clock John Wood, the well known plumbei who resides on Main Street, was awakened by hearing glass break. On getting out of bed he received a blow on the head. He immediately grappled with the burglar. and after a terri ole struggle succeeded' 1n holding him until his wi 0 obtained help. On being searched at the station, Mr. Wood’s watch and w al- let was found on his person. He gave the name of Rober t Terry. Serious Fun. John Hardie. fourteen years old, was arrested at Deer Park yesterday by detective Jarvis, of the Long Island Railroad Company. on a charge of at- tempted train wrecking. He confessed to the detective that he was guilty of the crime. He had taken a coupling link from a freight car and wedged it into a frog on the main track about a quarter of a mile west of the Deer Park station. The link was held in position by a coupling pin and the iron was so securely wedged into the frog that a train striking it would have been wrecked. A trackman named Jackson discovered the obstruction in taken to Babylon and will be arraigned before Justice Cooper to-day. He says it was all fun. o—>———-—— Of Interest to Military Men.
