Yesterday afternoon, Maple avenue
was visited by two tramp beggars.
First came a woman with apitiful story
of the loss of all her family, and beg-
ging for money to defray her expenses
to the old country. In a short time
along came a man with the same story.

Mrs. George Mead and daughter re—
turned home last evening from a six
weeks visit with her parents in Western
New York.
The Methodist church entertainments
have been well attended and are of a

home of his son, Frank Seymour, on

Miss Katie Smith, who has been dan-
gerously ill, is somewhat improved and

physician of Oberlin, Ohio, came here

place him on board to-night’s Sleeper
and get him home as soon as possible,
while he is able to ride. It isasad
termination to what had been contem-
plated by all the parties to be a de-
lightful visit.
BLOODY WORK IN NICARAGUA.
The Exillng of Plotters Against Presi-
dent Sin-case. Caused It.
NEW YORK, Sept. i—Advices just re
cei-ved from Corinto, Nicaragua, state- that
on "Aug. 23 the steamer Colima carried
away to Costa Rica six prominent Nica-
raguans sent into exile by President Sar
case, who accused them of plotting
against him.
The exiles all lived at Grenada, and
while they were being. taken from that
city a mob attempted to rescue them. The
soldiers fired, without injuring anybody,
and the mob replied with ‘a volley which
killed seven men, including the governor
of the district, the lieutenant commanding
the troops, three soldiers and two bystand-
ers.Re1nforoements arrived, the mob
was dispersed and the prisoners taken tc
Corinto.

dent Favala and several members or the

Markle, brother-in-law of MusgrRVe, the
former real estate dealer here who forged
deeds and mortgages, and who was sup
posed to have been burned todeath in a log
cabin, confessed that it was a conspiracy
to defraud the insurance companies and
that Musgrave is alive in Chic Mus

sent to arrest him. The skeleton placed
in the cabin was purchased in St. Louis
for $125.
