BROTHER-
That the DAILY GAZETTE is a sprightly
young sheet is conceded by all who
have ever perused its columns. Al-
though in its infancy it is quite a trav-
eler and is often found 8 long ways
from home. One case comes to our
knowledge where the paper is read
daily by one family in Broad River,
then sent to Brooklyn, there read by
three families; from there it is for-
warded to a lady in Saratoga, N. Y.,
who after reading the paper sends the
ballots to a little Miss in Norwalk to be
deposited for the most popular working
This shows that a cent’s worth
can be made to go a good ways some-
times.
Sunday morning, about 10 o ’,clock
during the absence of Mr. Giles St.
John and wife at church, fire was dis—
covered in the barn, by their little son,
who gave the alarm. By prompt as-
sistance from the neighbors, the fire
was put out before much damage was
done, beyond the partial burning of a
bale 'of hay and a hole about three feet
. in diameter in the floor of the barn.
The cause of the fire is supposed to
have been from the careless use of
matches.
After the funeral service, over the re-
mains of Edward Taylor, Saturday, and
the body had been laid away in the
vault at Riverside, the last will and tes-
tament of the deceased was read by the
executor, Mr. Josiah Kellogg. Mr.
Taylor’s property, consisting of real es-
tate and personal property mainly sav-
ings bank deposits, was divided among
six aged sisters, five of whom share
equallyin the personal, and the sixth
receiving a deed of the real estate, ex-
cept a piece of salt meadow near Pine
Island, and a tract- of woodland in Wil-
ton, which had been previously deeded
to a nephew, who had cared for his
aged uncle during the last two years.

Fire was discovered about 3 o’clock
this morning in the large barn on the.
LeGrand Comstock place in North
Wilton by a neighbor named Thomas,
who immediately gave an alarm. Not-
withstanding the efi‘orts of those who
responded, the building and sheds ad-
joining were quickly destroyed. The
building contained thirty tons of hay,
and a quantity of farming utensils be-
longing to Mr. Thomas, and phosphate
owned by Groceryman R. W. Keeler,
who had leased the property from April
1st. The building and Mr. Thomas’s
property were fully insured. Mr. Keel-
er’s loss was about $150. The fire was
of incendiary origin.

BURGLARY AT WIL TON.
The handsome summer residence of
R. B. Disbrow, just completed at Wil-
.ton, was discovered this - morning to
have been broken into. The burglars
entered through a porch window, and
then unlocked the door. They took
everything of value that was portable,
and then stole the keys, presumably
