The case of Frank McNamara, who

entering the appartments of Mrs George

by means of the transom, Saturday
night, was this morning continued by
Judge Front until Thursday morning.
The new Boston limited express
passed through this city yesterday at-
ternoon on its maiden trip. It con-
sisted of a parlor, bullet and two new-
ly cq'uipped day coaches, and was
drawn by cngine No. 119, with Mr.
Curnon as engineer. Conductor Hardy
had charge of the train. ~
The case of N clean and West, who
are held on suspicion of having caused
the death of Joseph Bradley last
Thursday night, will come up‘before
Judge Frost to-morrow morning, at
9 o’clock, ’when they will probably be
bound over to the Superior court.
Witnesses for the hearing are being
subpoenaed to-duy.

ford, all belonging to the railroad com-
pany, one at the Meadow Street cross-
ing, one near the Canal Street crossing,
and one in the block between the other

opening night of "the Akerstrom compa-
ny, there will be a grand display of fire

trodce a novel advertising scheme. A

the porch of the theatre, to one of the
st cks of which will be stamped “reseiv-
ed seat” and any one finding this stick
and bringing it to the box office will be

Yesterday afternoon on Italian,
whose name is unknown, slipped from
a plank and Qell into a hole in this city,
where he was working for the Consoli-
dated road. The injured man was
taken to Brideport, where his wounds
were attendedto by Dr. Ford, the
surgeon of the railroad. The physi-
cian'founda bad wound three inches
deep, to the bone, on the left cheek,
and a fracture of the leit lower jaw.

Serious Illness of His Attorney May Great-
ly Prolong the Trial.
SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 22.——-Eugcnc G.
Deuprey, the principal defender of Theo-
dore Durant, did not appear in court today
when the trial was resumed. He is still a
very sick man, and although his physician
reports that the attorney is on the road to
recovery, he expresses doubt that he will
be able to leave his bed during the week,
let alone appearing in the court. The
symptoms of paralysis which were so
manifest when Mr. Deuprey was first tak-
' an ill have not left him, notwithstanding
the skillful treatment and careful nursing
he has received. -
It is understood that in the event that
Mr. Deuprey is not sufficiently strong to
come to court when all of the evidence is

About 25 years ago a certain southern
man brought a suit against the South
Carolina railroad for damages to his
property. He lost the case in the supe-
rior court, but insisted upon carrying,
it to the supreme court, where he repre-
sented his own cause. He began his ar-
gument by saying whimiscally:
“May it please the court, there is an
old French adage which says, ‘A man
who is his own lawyer bath a fool for a
client.’ ”
The next week the supreme court
pronounced its decision, which was ad-
verse to the southerner. He was in Au~
gusta at the time, but received the an-
nouncement of his second and final dis-
appointment by means of d’ telegram
sent him by a prominent judge, who
was an intimate friend of his.
