Newell’s Murderer ”to Hang.
COLORADO SPRINGS, July 10.—Marion
W. Van Houten, recently convicted of the
murder of Richard Nowell, Jr.,. has been
sentenced to be hanged during the week
commencing July 28. N ewell was super-
intendent of the Midland Terminal rail-
way, which crosSed the claim occupied by
Van Houtcn. The latter Obstructed the
line, and when NeWell visited the scene
shot him dead. ‘ : ‘

Daniel Worling took placo in the jail yard
today. The prisoner had entertained
