A lieutenant in the army has for some time past been paying his address to the captain general’ 5 daugh- ter, and today he requested her hand In marriage. The captain general refused the lieutenant’s request, and some hot words were exchanged, resulting in the lieuten- ant drawing a revolver and shooting the captain general. A Small Bank In Trouble. WASHINGTON, June 4.-—Comptroller Eckels today received a telegram stating that the First National bank of Bella, 1a., had closed its doors. Bank Examiner Howard was placed in charge. The bank has a capital of $50, 000. .The cause of the suspension is not known.
