Chorus will take part in the concert.
There was a fight in Kelly’s saloon at
the corner of Water and Haviland
streets, Saturday night,‘and one of the
combatants was forced through a win-
dow. It is probable that arrests will
follow. . -
John Daily, at brakeman of the Con-
solidated road, sustained a slight scalp
wound by being knocked from the cars
on the New York division near Milford
yesterday. Daily is 34 years old and
lives in Jersey City.
The new open cars on the Street Rail-
way scrape their underneath iron work
on the paving stones along the tracks
from the city line to North Main street,
and it will be necessary for the compa-
ny to have the pavmg lowered,
The Rice Stock company after thirty-
nine successful weeks disbanded in this
city Saturday night after their closing
performance at Hoyt’s Opera House.
A large audience was present and the
company gave an enjoyable perfor-
mance. -
On Saturday Chief of Police Vollme
issued orders to the patrolmen to keep
the corners of the streets clear of
loafers. Special attention was called
to the corner of Washington and South
Main streets where it is almost impossi-
ble to pass at times. The order came
through Mayor Lee and its effect was
plainly apparent last evening, the cor-
ners being free from lbafers, much to
the delight of lady pedestrians.
Engine No. 246 drawing the “Gilt
Edge” express due in this city at 10
o’clock p. m., blew out the cylinder
head in East N orwalk last night. The
engineer instead of stopping the train
allowed it to run by gravity to the de-
pot in this city where it was brought to
a stop and the engine exchanged for No.
17, which drew the train to New York.
No damage was done by the blowing
out of the head and a delay of only
fifteen minutes was caused.
Union Castle, K. of G. E, went to
Darien ip a body, last evening, and
attended divine service in the Metho‘
dist church with Ivanhoe castle of that
place. On their return trip they caught
up with a horse hitched to a carriage
who had strayed away and was walking
towards this city. One of the members
secured the turnout and brought it to
this city and placed it in Solman’s sta-
ble, where it was soon after claimed by
the parties who hired it from an up
town stable. ,They claimed that the
horse had been hitched at Darien and
had gotten loose.
