Royal Mills, of this city, and Miss Lizzie Hart, of Stratford, were mar- ried at the bride’s home in that town yesterday. The happy couple return- ed to this city last evening and will re- side here. ‘ Col. Frost, representing the Norwalk Tramway company, City Attorney Light and Councilman R. H. Golden, representing the city, are in Hartford to-day looking after the proposed change in legislation so as to allow the Street Railway company to crcss Wash- ington street. W. ~A. Benedict&Co.,- the hustling clothiers, have purchased two thousand collars which they are placing in small separate boxes and giving them away as an advertisement. The collars are the latest style and anyone securing one of a size too large or too small can exchange the same by calling at either of their stores. 7 The oyster fleet is gathering on the big natural bed off Bridgeport and Stratford, and work has begun and Willoontinue till the season cloises in July. The condition of the bed is- found to be very favorable for this season of the year, much of the seed oyster stock having,.in shallow places, worked out of the sand, 'which covers it in winter. ' The wrecker'which for the past week or more has been at work off Cow Buoy, Stamford, has finished her mysterious errand and returned to New York. It has been ascertained that she was sent. there to raise a deck-load of cut stone which went overboard last fall at that point from a vessel bound from Fort Lee to this city. Allen Wood yesterday recovered his stolen horse in Lewisboro. It seems that the thieves hunted in pairs, one stealing Wood’s horse and the other taking Fillow’s horse and wagon. They endeavored to swap horses all along the route, but did not succeed. At Bedford they swapped Mr. Fillow’s wagon for a two-wheel gig and received 32 in cash. They. then got drunk with the money and one of the thieves deserted his pal and left for parts unknown. Mr. Wood is in New York State to-day endeavor- ing to secure his arrest; His pal, Har- ry Dennis, one of the thieves, after be- ing deserted, returned to his home in this city, and was arrested by Chief Vollmer this morning. ‘ Mrs. Fred H. Quintard and Mrs. George R, Byington entertained the former’s home on Washington street, last evening. Six tables were occupied and the contest for prizes was spirited. Mrs. Jennie Littell Nash won the ladies first prize and Mrs. Thomas Benedict, Jr., the second. Mr. E. W. Beard eap- tured the gentleman’s first and Mr. George A. Jennings the second prize. After the games an elegant repast was served and highly enjoyed by the guests. Among those present were Mr. and Mrs. George A.
