The Man Whose Body Was Found In the Passaic Was Struck From Behind. PA'ss'ArC, N. J., March 12.—;The. police of thiS’city are working hard today to identify the body of a. man which was found yesterday afternoon in the Possaio river just one mile below the town at the foot of Monroe street. A party of boys who were out on a. fishing tour discovered the body lying on the bank of the river. It had evidently been in the water for some weeks. ' The boys were frightened, but one of their number after awhile summoned. up ' courage enough to look at the' body, and then Johnny Henderson, the swiftcst run— . nor of the crowd. rushed back to inform the police of their discovery. Chief of Police Hendry and several men went at once to the place and found there the dead body of a. man whose skin had been turned to a. most brilliant red by the water, and upon whose head there was a gash four inches long and an inch and a. half wide.
