bookkeeper of the National Shoe and
Leather bank, is in Canada is corroborat-
ed by the conductor of Pullman car No.
3 of the Erie railroad. He says that Seely
was a passenger of Friday night of last
week and went with him as far as Buf-
talc.

was stated that the marshals, too, were in
the dark as to the whereabouts of the fugi-
tive.
It was learned upon good authority
that the Jersey City lawyer who made the
statements that Seely would be in one-
tody in 48 hours had not been retained on
Seely’s case at all, but was simply con-
sulted on a few points by Lawyer Angel
and has not been connected with the mat-
ter ofi‘icially since. .
Lawyer Bishop. for the Shoe and.
Leather bank. met Lawyer Ogden, for
the Baker family, and Mrs. Frederick
Baker. her daughter and two sons at the
Park Safe Deposit company this morning.
The last safe deposit box belonging to
the deceased Baker was Opened and an ex-
amination made for papers that would
connect him either with the bank or Seely.
Mrs. Seely Not M'oving.
At the home of‘Mrs. Seely. the wife of
the missing bookkeeper. 422 Halsey street,
Brooklyn, this morning. the report that
she is packing her goods. preparatory to
leaving, was vigorously denied.
She could not move secretly, for the
house is still watched night and day by a
guard of detectives.
