A Republican caucus to nominate a

The case of the state vs. H. W. Ray-
mond came up before Justice Keeler,
on Saturday, and was dismissed, and
the town pays thefreight. Honnecker
for prosecution.
A gentleman came to this city from
New Haven this morning looking for
a horse that had been stolen in that
city. .Not getting a clue here he took
the next train to Danbury.
George E. Lounsbury, of the firm of
Lounsbury, Matthewson & 00., of this
clty, was nominated by thee-Ridgefield
and other republicans of the Twelfth
district for senator Saturday.
Capt. Charles A. Smith, the sub-ma-
rine diver, of Bridgeport, is making an
effort to-day to locate a leak in the
water main where it crosses the river
under the Washington street bridge. 1 5
Early yesterday morning as a mem-
ed to pass under the Washington street
gates, he had a close call from being
run over by an east bound freight train
George H. Benedict, a shoe cutter
employed by Lounsbury & Matthe wson,
died very suddenly-at his home on Day
street at midnight last night. He was
about the streets on Saturday apparent-
ly as well as ever. -
The. hearing before the Railroad
commissioners on allowing the Consoli-
dated road to cross the Tramway tracks
at grade, on the Wilson Point road,
which was to have come up to-morrow

A crowded house greeted Dockstad-
er’s minstrels at Hoyt’s new Opera
House Saturday night. The jokes were
new and the singing and dancing ex-
cellent. The three Marvels astonished
theaudience with their wonderful per-
formance, while Frank White nearly
killed everybody with his funny say-
ings and antics. Dockstader did not
putin an appearamce until late, but
his company gave such an interesting
entertainment that he was not missed.

Gladstone, yesterday afternoon, that a
a horse had been left standing on Ann
street Since early morning and it ought
to be taken care of. The detective vis-
ited Ann street and seeing a horse
hitched to a post started to unhitch
him. He .had nearly released the horse
when awmdow was raised and fa gen-
tleman informed the detective that the
horse_was his and to leave it alone, and
that it had only been there about an
hour. Cr. Washington took off his hat
and apologized and walked away. He
is now looking for his informant.
