Building and Loan Association was
held at their rooms on Washington

The officials of the Consolidated road
have awarded the contract to Dwight
Br Bailey of New York for work in the
”vicinity of Greenwich. The work. in-.
cludes the elmination of all crossings
at grade. By the coming fall the con-
tracts will have been completed from
New Rechelle to Bridgeport, with the
exceptions of the sections at Riverside
and Greenwich and the line through
South Norwalk and Stamford, and east-
ward, the only remaining portion with
double tracks, will be at Bridgeport.
By next summer, however, it can be
hlaimed that the road will be practi-
cally four-tracked from New Rochelle
to New Haven.

A Large Shoo Factory Burned.
MARBLEHEAD. Mass, J'uly 18.—Fire de-
stroyed the large four story shoe factory
of Joseph Harris 82: 80115 on Elm street,
the oldest concern in, the city, today. The
loss will reach $75,000, which is but par-
tially insured.

ST. PETERSBUBG, July 18. —-The cholera
epidemic is assuming alarming propor-

NEW YORK, July 18-.—'Two freight trains
collided on the Long Island railroad to-
day near Springfield. There was no per-
