Joseph McNamara. was. yesterday
fined $5 and costs by Justlce Barrett,
for his part in the prlze fight With
James Skidd at Pine Island on Satur-
day last.
George Masters, a. tourist from Gosh-
en, N. Y., was arrested by the police
last night for :drunkenness. This
morning Justice Barrett fined him $1
and costs, which proved too much for
his bank account and he was taken to
Bridgeport.
The expressmen and friends of
George Crofut, who is lying at the
point of death from blood poisoning re-
sulting from pricking his finger with
the point of a. lead pencil, this morning
for the sufferer. _He was removed to
the Norwalk hospital this morning.
The popular opera, “Robin Hood,”
drew one of the largest and most fash-
ionable-audiences that has filled the
house smce its opening. _ The opera
was finely rendered, especially by the
male members of the troupe, the anvil
solo byLouis Casavant being. worthy
of specml mention, he recelving a
double encore. The tinker’s chorus
was well executed and enjoyed by all,
receivmg a. triple encore. Jerome
Sykes, who impersonated the Sherifl'
of Nottingham, was very fine, and ren-
dered his lines in a. manner worthy of
Barnabce. Fatimuh Diard, as Maid
and Ethel Bulch as Annabel, were all
good, and filled their roles in a very
satisfactory manner. The public is
ereatly indebted to Manager Hoyt for
the many first-class attractions which
they have enjoyed since the opening
of his new Opera. House, and have at-
tested their appreciation by crowding
the house at each performance.

CBAWFORDSVILLE, Ind., March 21.-A
wholesale poisoning occurred at Hillsboro.
The family and help of Dr. Hays were
taken violently sick after eating canned
chicken, and three deaths will likely re-
sult. George Busby, a. colored hired hand,
is dead, and Dru-Hays and his mother-in-
law, Mr’s. Rivers, are not expected to re-
cover.
‘Vilhelm Joins His Family.
BERLIN, March 21.—Emperor William
has started for Abbazia, on the Adriatic,
where he will spend some time with the
imperial family. The empress and the
children, as already cabled, have been at
Abbazia for some time past and are e11-
joying their stay there immensely.

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind., March 21.——Gen-
eral Lew \Vallace denies that he will found
a. “college of 'im:nor.uls.” ' {8 says the
rumor grows out of a bill now before con-
gress, which he inspired, for the encour-
agement of art. science, literature and in-
ventious.
